Daryl leads a workshop with a group of teenage performers. They are grouped tightly together, standing and facing him at the front of the room.

Children & Young People

We believe that the way children and young people are currently able to engage with the arts is unfair, and as a result, many are being left out.

So Daryl & Co aims to invest in the creation of new approaches and developing new ways of creativity that enables opportunities for all children & young people, because that's what we value the most.

Daryl & Co create 'Brave Spaces' for young people to engage with artists in meaningful ways that meet their own needs and desires.

This allows an equal conversation between Disabled artists and young people to discover what they want to say, how to creatively say it and then work together with committed partners to realise their ideas and share them with the world.

As a result our approach enables children and young people to create new and relevant live and digital creative projects.

By working in collaboration with children, young people and partners we:

Support children and young people’s own aspirations:
Exploring what they want to work towards, what creative tools are required to realise this and how can Daryl & Co, artists and partners support them to achieve this?

Influence artists:
Supporting Artists in the creative process of new work to ensure it reflects their views and is revenant to young audiences

Promote strategic partnerships:
Enabling Daryl & Co to engage with young people on areas of creative vision and company growth

What's a Brave Space?

'Brave Spaces' are places where people can have honest conversations, face their biases, and learn from different views in a respectful way. Growth can be uncomfortable, but stepping out of our comfort zones helps build a more inclusive world.

We do this by:

- Valuing the ideas and creativity of young people and artists, letting them take the lead.

- Sharing Daryl & Co’s work, inviting people to rehearsals, and offering custom training.

- Encouraging learning through creativity and giving access to opportunities in the arts.

- Creating a space where everyone feels able to learn, share, and grow.

- Building a fun, supportive, and playful community.

- Developing two-way relationships where young people and artists learn from each other.

- Including activism to challenge the unfair systems in the arts and push for real change.
